In order to see metrics from your promoted (we call these "paid") Instagram posts in Rival IQ, it's important to connect your Facebook Ads Account properly. This article will show you how to get everything connected.
Please note: Paid engagement metrics are not available in the Social Benchmarking section at this time.
Step 1: Connect Instagram Insights to Rival IQ
If you haven't already connected Instagram Insights, follow this help article to get set up. Before moving to Step 2, your Instagram Insights analytics should be visible, like the image below.
Step 2: Gain access to the Facebook Ad Account
To view paid metrics, the person who has admin/analyst access to the Facebook page associated with the Instagram Business Account should also have access to the Facebook Ads Account used to promote Instagram posts.
If you don't have access to the Facebook Ads Account, you will need to ask someone who does have permissions to give you "ad account admin" or "ad account analyst" access. They can find this through Facebook's Business Settings > Users > People.
In the example below, my Facebook account has "Ad account admin" access to Rival IQ Paid Ads.
If your Facebook Ad Account access isn't "ad account admin" or "ad account analyst", you can ask someone who has those permissions to join your Rival IQ account. Use the Team page to invite them as a teammate.
Step 3: Refresh your Facebook Connection to Rival IQ
Whoever now has access to the Facebook Ad Account will need to add/refresh their Facebook connection on the Connected Services page.
Click "Disconnect" and then "Connect to Facebook".
Step 4: Check for Paid Metrics on Promoted Posts
We will need a few minutes to reload your posts with paid metrics. When you check back on your Instagram Insights, look in the Posts tab.
Verify that your paid metrics are available by looking in the Posts panel for an orange box with the promoted dollar amount. You may need to adjust your date range to verify this.
When you click on a promoted post, you will be able to see both organic and paid metrics in the post modal.
