Activity
 Activity is the term we use to describe the quantity of posts a company makes on one or more channels.

Audience
 Audience is the term we use to describe the fans a company has on different channels - we sum those fan groups in the Overview Reports.

Breakout Post
 A breakout post is a post that performs highly above average for a landscape. For more information, see What's a Breakout Post?

Company
 A company is a unique URL in Rival IQ. Usually this is the company's web site. If the company doesn't have a web site, use the company's Twitter page (e.g. http://twitter.com/pepsi), their YouTube page (e.g. https://www.youtube.com/user/Pepsi/Pepsi), or their Instagram page (e.g. https://instagram.com/pepsi/). If a company has a subdomain, e.g. blog.somecompany.com, you could use this as well to create your company. See more articles about companies here.
 
 If the same company appears in multiple landscapes in your account, it is counted only once against your company limits.

Cross-Channel Metrics

  • Audience: The total number of followers across all tracked social channels.
  • Posts: The total number of posts across all tracked social channels.
  • Posts / Day: The average number of posts per day across all of this company's tracked social channels during the selected time period.
  • Engagement Rate / Post: The average number of interactions per post, per follower, on all posts published during the selected time period, across all social channels, expressed as a percentage. This value is weighted by the relative audience sizes for each company.
  • Amplification: The amplification engagement across tracked social channels including Retweets, Facebook Post Shares, Google+ Post Shares, and Pinterest Saves.
  • Applause: The applause engagement across all tracked social channels including Twitter Likes, Facebook Reactions, Google Plus +1s (on posts), YouTube Likes, Instagram Likes, and Pinterest Likes.
  • Conversation: The conversation engagement across tracked social channels including post comments on Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest. Note that this does not include Twitter Replies.

Date Range
 Date range is the current number of days Rival IQ uses to show you information about a company or landscape. This can be either a fixed number of days (March 2 to March 7), a relative number of days (the last 7 days), or a custom date span.
 
The maximum date range currently allowed is two years. Companies in Rival IQ may not have this much data available for all metrics - we start tracking them when they are added to the system. If you'd like more data than you see in your account, we also offer an extended data history pull.

Engagement Total and Engagement Rate
 Engagement is the term we use to indicate actions that social media users take in response to posts from a social media handle.

  • Engagement Total in Rival IQ is the the total number of "engagement actions" across all tracked social channels.
  • Engagement Rate is the number of engagement actions divided by 100 followers - this normalizes the activity between larger and smaller accounts.
  • Engagement Total is the total number of engagement actions for a company in a channel or across channels.

Domain Authority
 Domain authority is a proprietary metric maintained by Moz that predicts how well a domain will perform in search results. Learn more about this here.
 
 Facebook Statistics
 Here are the Facebook statistics we track:

  • Post engagement rate is the total number of interactions (likes, comments, and shares), per hundred page likes, of posts on this company's Facebook page during this time period.
  • Average posts/day is the average number of posts on this company's Facebook page per day during this time period.
  • Average engagement rate/post is the average number of interactions (likes, comments, and shares), per hundred page Likes, of posts on this company's Facebook page during this time period.
  • Average engagement total per post is the average number of interactions (likes, comments, and shares) of posts on this company's Facebook page during this time period.
  • Post engagement total is the total number of interactions (likes, comments, and shares) of posts on this company's Facebook page during this time period.


 Google+ Statistics
 Here are the Google+ statistics we track:

  • Average posts/day is the average number of posts on this company's Google+ page per day during this time period.
  • Post engagement rate, by day is the total number of plus ones, comments, and reshares, per hundred Page +1s, of posts on this company's Google+ page during this time period.
  • Average engagement rate/post is the average number of interactions(+1s, comments, and reshares), per hundred Page +1s, of posts on this company's Google+ page during this time period.
  • Post engagement total is the total number of plus ones, comments, and reshares of posts on this company's Google+ page during this time period.
  • Average engagement total/post is the average number of interactions(+1s, comments, and reshares) of posts on this company's Google+ page during this time period.


 Instagram Statistics
 Here are the Instagram statistics we track:

  • Average posts/day is the average total number of posts on this company's Instagram per day during this time period.
  • Post engagement rate, by day is the total number of likes and comments, per hundred followers, of posts on this company's Instagram during this time period.
  • Average engagement rate/post is the average number of interactions (likes and comments), per hundred followers, of posts on this company's Instagram during this time period.
  • Post engagement total is the total number of likes and comments of posts on this company's Instagram during this time period.
  • Average engagement total/post is the average number of interactions (likes and comments) of posts on this company's Instagram during this time period.

Landscape
 A landscape is a collection of companies to track for a comparative or competitive analysis campaign. You also set a highlight or focus company - "my company" - and a set of tags to apply to and filter companies in the Landscape.  Meta Description
 A meta description is a brief description of your web site that search engines use to create preview content. Learn more about this here.
 
 Notable Activity Alert
 An email sent to subscribers of a landscape summarizing Breakout Posts and where your competitors have made big moves in positioning or metrics. You may receive this email up to once a day.

 Social Channel Matrix
 The Social Channel Matrix is a report that shows you all of the companies in your Landscape and provides a place where you suggest changes to those companies.
 
 Social Rankings
 Social Rankings are the place where you see a summary of key social metrics, benchmarked against your competitors.

Social Summary
 An email sent to subscribers of a landscape summarizing a week's worth of activity in that landscape. You will receive this email once a week.
 
 Tag
 Tags are labels that you can apply to a company to help you filter which companies you include in an analysis. Tags can be any word or phrase, and you can apply one or more tags to a company. See What are Tags and How do I use them.
 
 Twitter Statistics
 Here are the Twitter statistics we track:

  • Tweet engagement rate is the number of interactions (retweets and favorites), per hundred followers, of this company's own tweets during this time period.
  • Average engagement rate/Tweet is the average number of interactions (retweets and favorites), per hundred followers, of this company's tweets during this time period.
  • Average Tweets/day is the average number of tweets by this company per day during this time period.
  • Tweet engagement total is the total number of interactions (retweets and favorites) of this company's own tweets during this time period.
  • Average engagement total/Tweet is the average number of interactions (retweets and favorites) of this company's tweets during this time period.

Top Content
 Top Content Reports display the top social posts in your landscape either by channel or across all channels.
 
 YouTube Statistics
 Here are the YouTube statistics we track:

  • Average posts/day is the average total number of posts on this company's YouTube channel per day during this time period.
  • Post engagement rate, by day is the total number of likes, dislikes, and comments, per hundred likes, of videos on this company's YouTube channel during this time period.
  • Average engagement rate/post is the average number of interactions (likes, dislikes, and comments), per hundred Likes, of videos on this company's YouTube channel during this time period.
  • Post engagement total is the total number of likes, dislikes, and comments of videos on this company's YouTube channel during this time period.
  • Average engagement total/post is the average number of interactions (likes, dislikes, and comments) of videos on this company's YouTube channel during this time period.
