Search Techniques
Task | Tips | Examples |
Match a keyword | Specify the keyword. Rival IQ searches are not case sensitive. | Searching on social or Social matches any post whose description contains the word "social" with letters in any case. |
Match a phrase | Enclose a search phrase with quotation marks to return only posts that contain the specified words in the specified order. | Searching on "Facebook Insights" matches posts containing the exact phrase "Facebook Insights." It does not match a post, for example, that contains "Get better insights from Facebook." |
Match any one of multiple keywords | Specify a list of keywords separated by the OR operator to return posts that contain any one of the specified terms. | Searching on twitter OR youtube matches posts containing either keyword in the post description. |
Match multiple keywords | Specify a list of keywords to return only posts that contain all of the specified terms. By default, Rival IQ automatically ANDs multiple keywords together; however, you can specify the AND operator if you wish. | Searching on instagram AND facebook only matches posts containing both keywords in the post description. |
Match a hashtag or handle | Specify a hashtag prefaced with a pound sign (#) or a handle prefaced with the at sign (@). | #Nike or @Nike |
Exclude keywords | Specify the NOT operator after one or more search terms to exclude posts containing a specified term. | #Nike NOT #Reebok |
Match keyword variants | Use the wildcard character (*) to return many variants at once. | starbucks* *latte |
Match links | Select URL in the Search By URL list and enter the URL.
