Instagram Metrics Update – Improved Reporting
We are improving the accuracy of our Instagram Reels metrics by updating their names and definitions. These updates will be made on September 16, 2024.
The following metrics will be relabeled:
Video Views → Initial Plays
Video Views, Organic → Initial Plays, Organic
Video Views, Paid → Initial Plays, Paid
These changes can be found throughout the Instagram Insights section of our application. Stay tuned for more enhancements!
Current Metric | New Name | New Definition |
Video Views | Initial Plays | Number of times your reel starts to play for the first time in a reel session. Defined as plays of 1 ms or more, excluding replays. This is the sum of organic and paid initial plays. |
Video Views, Organic | Initial Plays, Organic | Number of times your reel starts to play for the first time in a reel session. Excludes replays and paid initial plays. |
Video Views, Paid | Initial Plays, Paid | Number of times your reel starts to play for the first time in a reel session, excluding replays and organic initial plays. |
What's Next:
We'll soon add an additional metric for Total Plays, Organic and we'll update derived metrics, like Engagement Rate by Video Views, to reflect the changes from views to Plays.
