Frequently Asked Questions

Can you import Post Tags from other apps?

No. Most applications don't share Post Tags you've created elsewhere, so Rival IQ doesn't have access to external tags. You can tag a post once it's in Rival IQ, or you can also use Auto-Tag Rules to simplify this process of tagging.

How do you edit a Post Tag's name?

To edit a Post Tag's name, navigate to the Post Tag Manager, which is located under Landscape in the left navigation menu.

Hover over the tag name and click the edit icon.

How do you delete a Post Tag?

To delete a post tag, navigate to the Post Tag Manager, which is located under Landscape in the left navigation menu.

Hover over the tag name and click the delete icon.

Deleting the post tag will remove it from all tagged posts.

How do you edit an Auto-Tag Rule?

Edit an Auto-Tag Rule by hovering over the tag name and clicking the lightning bolt icon.

Or click Manage Auto-Tags and then click the edit icon next to the Rule, in the Manage Auto-Tags modal.

Editing an Auto-Tag Rule will remove all tags the Rule had previously applied, so that it can use the new query to apply tags.ย

How do you delete an Auto-Tag Rule?

Remove an Auto-Tag Rule by clicking Manage Auto-Tags and then clicking the delete icon next to the Rule in the Auto-Tag Rules modal. Deleting an Auto-Tag Rule removes all tags applied by the Rule, but the tag remains visible. Any posts manually added to the tag will remain tagged.

What do those checkboxes mean?

In the screenshot below, we've selected a handful of posts in the Post Tag Manager:

  • The mixed state checkbox for "Anti-Wrinkle," "Eye Cream," and "Mask" means that those tags are on some but not all of the selected posts.

  • The unchecked checkbox means those tags are not applied to the selection, and they won't be added when we click Apply.

  • The tags "Has Face" and "Not Regram" are both checked, meaning one of two things:

    • These tags are already applied to the posts we selected.

    • Clicking Apply will apply these tags to the posts we selected.

Can I tag private posts? How do I analyze reach and impressions on tagged posts?

As of April 28, 2020 you can tag private posts and analyze post tags with private metrics. Read how here.

Tips

The Post Tags filter is also available under the Social Posts and Posted URLs tables

Using the filter to show only the Post Tag "Mask", you can analyze posts with this tag in more detail. For example, you might ask, what hashtags do these posts have in common?

To include or exclude Post Tags shown on posts, use the Show/Hide toggle

Post Tagging can help you answer the question, "is it better if I post about X or not?"

In this example, we'll compare whether regramming helps engagement by comparing posts that use #regram vs posts that don't.

1. Create a Keyword-Based Auto-Tag for #regram OR regram:

2. Search for posts without #regram and tag them "Not Regram."

3. Exit the Post Tag Manager to analyze these two tags. You can use the Post Tags dropdown to filter the view to just the two tags you're comparing.

And here's the analysis, which shows us that the 6 posts with #regram did 4.12 times better than the posts without the hashtag.
